r0bertz: That's great to hear. Actually, the Loongson 2F being MIPS64-based, it should be possible to run MIPSel4 stages (i.e. the proper Cobalt ones) on it.

As for a DHCP client, I don't think any released stages ever came with one -- that's always been something for the user to install after unpacking. This has bitten me in the bum before -- forgetting to install DHCP then having to manually bring the network up to be able to download dhcpcd. ;-)

hi, redhatter, i am running the mipsel1 stage3 on loongson 2f now. it works well. however, it does not have a dhcp client. So i have to emerge one myself. :) I think it would be better if we had it in the stage3, :)

Hi, redhatter, I have got a loongson 2f box. I will use the mips1 little endian stage to install a gentoo on it. I will report back the result, :)

Well... the kernel version issue from what I understand, is related to the version of libc and headers in use. These new stages use bleeding edge glibc and linux-headers.

As for a kernel for IP30... no idea... my IP30 is not in the land of the living anymore, so I have no hardware to test an IP30 kernel on.

*have reported

also, have you got information about a real hard tested hard working 2.6.2* kernel with IP30 ?
my 2.6.20.18 is not stable, it is slow and it is reporting out a lot of kernel bug information

2.6.23 is simply not booting at all

about gentoo/mips.bigendian 2008

as i wrote to the gentoo forum and #gentoo-mips, i've got an octane2 here and i progressively update my old 2006.1 to 2008 hard testing everything: the issues you have been reported is not related to the kernel. I am using 2.6.17 here without any issue.

I updated the profile, unmasking a lot of things
